Bishop-Designate Brackett acknowledged and accepted the higher calling of God to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1989. Having been licensed on October 28, 1989, and ordained March 2, 1994, God has truly anointed and blessed his evangelistic crusade. On August 6, 1995, Bishop-Designate Brackett accepted the call to Pastor Rhema Word Church. Since that time he continues to excel as a Modern Day Joshua. Since his arrival, the Ministry has advanced on many new fronts. One significant advancement includes the restructure & renaming of our ministry. Transforming from Original Rising Star MBC to our current name, Rhema Word Church. In 2005, spearheading the purchase of our current 16,000 square feet Worship Facility to house ministry for our Chicago Campus, the launching of Rhema Word International Ministries, and Rhema Community Development Corp. both extensions of Rhema Word Church, just to name a few.
Reared in the Metropolitan surroundings of Chicago, IL, Bishop-Designate was educated in the Chicago Public School System. He attended one of the most affluent secondary schools in the city. He excelled in all of his classes at the Albert G. Lane Technical High School. Bishop-Designate Brackett currently holds a Bachelors of Theology Degree and a Master’s of Christian Education Degree; both from Morris Booker Memorial College of Dermott, Arkansas, as well as an Honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Gospel Ministries Outreach Theological Institute of Houston, Texas. Currently, Bishop-Designate Brackett is a student of Regent University as he pursues his degree in Biblical & Theological Studies. Bishop-Designate Brackett has faithfully served in multiple Leadership roles throughout his Pastoral tenure. These opportunities to serve, include but are not limited to his most current appointments as Diocesan Bishop of the Mid-West Region of the Grace Fellowship of Churches Intl., State of IL District Leader for Global United Fellowship, Bishop-Designate Brackett has served as District Overseer of the Western District of IL for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Fourth Vice President of United Baptist State Convention Inc. just to name a few. In 2000, Bishop-Designate Brackett was honored to be named one of Americas Most Loved Pastors in the National Christian Magazine “Gospel Today” (September/October 2000 release) He serves as an advocate for the community in which he has been called to serve. Bishop-Designate Brackett faithfully serves the community through multiple outreaches and organizations.
As God continues to elevate him, he remains humble and loyal to his Kingdom assignment. He is indeed a “Joshua” of today. Bishop-Designate Brackett, a devoted husband, is married to Lady Ira Brackett, and they have two sons, Caleb Cortez Brackett and Joshua Ja’Juan Brackett.
